Storytelling for collective healing
Tricia is a Creative Ambassador for the City of San José in 2026. Tricia has built upon her 25+ years as an arts educator to bring the “I Am / We Are: Our Stories Connect Us” workshop series to the community at large. The series combines creative writing, photography, collage, audio & video storytelling to promote self-expression and collective healing.
The goal of the “I Am/We Are” project is to amplify participants’ stories, transforming individual reflection into a sense of belonging within our communities.

This collection of “I Am/We Are” projects gives a taste of the workshops Tricia Creason-Valencia has taught with high school and college age youth and with the community at-large.
Tricia Speaks! creativity workshops offer an empowering, hands-on experience for educators, students, leaders and community members to connect with their own creativity and sense of purpose. Through guided writing and audio & visual storytelling exercises, these workshops create space for nuanced exploration of our individual and collective identities and offer multiple entry points into creativity as a tool for mental wellness and empowerment.
Tricia Creason-Valencia facilitates creativity workshops with organizations such as Google, Adobe, NAMI California, Santa Clara County Division of Equity & Social Justice, Sierra Health Foundation and at education and mental health conferences nationally.
